'Wah! Wah!' pronounced 'vah vah' is the Hindi equivalent of 'bravo', and audiences will be moved to such refrain at the musical that's recently moved West End to East End. Now at Theatre Royal, Stratford the musical vividly tells the culture clash between Indian-born Soraya (played by Sophiya Haque) and life-long east-ender Sita (Natasha Jayetileke). When the two meet in Soraya's dance class, the body-popping moves of the Londoner shake up the routines. Along the way is the tale of forbidden love and family secrets.
