More details:

Meeting the parents for the first time is a terrifying experience at the best of times, but when faced with a tyrannous mother like Lili Adler’s in this David Grindley-directed taut drama, even J-Lo’s rival in ‘Monster In Law’ will seem like a breeze in comparison.

Fresh from its triumphant UK premiere at Theatre Royal Bath, Richard Greenberg’s widely acclaimed drama receives a well-deserved transfer to the capital as it takes on the impressive surroundings of the St James Theatre. As Lili – played by the perfectly cast Diana Quick - falls for handsome stranger Nick Lockridge, she finds herself caught in the poisonous path of her controlling and wealthy German-Jewish mother, Eva. Set in the Catskill Mountains during the height of a ‘60s summer, ‘The American Plan’ is a tangle of broken souls, twisted motives and brutal hilarity that will leave you torn between tears of laughter and sorrow. Either way, tissues are essential, if not only to wipe up the tea we bet you spat out when reading this exclusive offer.
